Today’s perms are vastly different from the perms of long ago. One of the stylists at My Hair and Beauty can recommend the perfect perm formula for your desired style.

(perm)anent wave

If you want just a little wave or lots of curl, a permanent wave will add volume to your hair and it’s perfect for thin or fine hair that lacks body. A permanent wave, commonly called a perm, involves the use of chemicals to break and reform the bonds of the hair. The hair is washed and wrapped on a perm rod and waving lotion is applied with a base. This solution creates a chemical reaction that softens the inner structure of the hair by breaking some of the cross links within and between the protein chains of the hair. The hair swells, stretches and softens, then molds around the shape of the perm rod.

spiral perm

How is a spiral perm different from a regular perm? A spiral perm uses the same type of solution or formula, but this difference is in what type of roller is used to roll the hair during the perm appointment. A regular perm uses small concave rollers. Your hair is separated into horizontal sections and then rolled under. With a spiral perm, long slender rollers are used instead, and your hair is rolled onto the rollers in a vertical arrangement. A spiral perm from My Hair and Beauty will create beautiful spiral curls that will add volume and style to lifeless hair. We specialise in many types of styles for almost even hair type and length, perms for short hair as well as medium and long hair lengths, plus wavy and loose perm, and even Perms for Fine Hair.
